Katy Holdread, LCSW, NBC-HWCLicensed Clinical Social Worker/National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach
Hello! So glad you are here. My name is Katy and I am a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach. I have always been interested in striving for wellness–mind and body. That passion led me to pursue an undergraduate degree in Social Work from Saint Mary’s College. I then went on to get my Master’s in Social Work from IU-Indianapolis. For eight years I worked as a licensed clinical social worker/behavior specialist for the school systems in Elkhart County. After working with children and families who suffer from anxiety, depression, mood imbalances, ADHD and major life stressors, I started to realize my mental health training was missing something…wait for it…training in NUTRITION! Believe it or not, what we feed our bodies goes hand in hand with how we function.
Becoming pregnant with my own little bundle of joy in 2013 was just the push I needed to pursue my Health Coaching Certification. I’ve had a life long relationship with anxiety and perfectionism, but boy oh boy, leave it to pregnancy and motherhood to kick it in to high gear. Exhaustion, negative thinking and poor eating pushed me to my limits and I had to put into practice what I preach.Through the support of family, friends and outside providers I slowly but surely got myself to a healthy place again. I know YOU can too!
To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art.La Rochefoucauld
I’m not into fad diets, weight loss pills or miracle shakes. I’m into listening to your body, eating REAL food and practicing self care. I focus on the whole person using the L.E.A.N. approach– Lifestyle, Exercise, Attitude and Nutrition. We can’t feel our best when we aren’t balanced in all aspects of our lives. Change isn’t quick or easy, but it will be worth it.
The knowledge I have gained through the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute paired with my mental health background leaves you with one motivated, passionate and knowledgeable Coach. I know first hand the struggles of wanting to drink those Big Gulps or pull through Taco Bell for that nachos supreme. I understand that being a new mom is hard and sometimes you turn to food for comfort. I feel your pain in trying to decide what to feed that feisty toddler or picky 8 year old. So come on, let me help you become your best self.
The doctor of the future will no longer treat the human frame with drugs,
but rather will cure and prevent disease with NUTRITION.
